How we paint

Cataphoresis and powder coatings explained

Painting is a process that provides additional protection for metal alloy product against corrosion while enhancing their aesthetic appeal.

At ZinCol we offer painting throught two possible procedures:

Cataphoresis

The workpieces, connected to the negative pole of an electric generator, are immersed in a tank containing electrodes connected to the positive pole. The electric field and the electrochemical phenomena cause the paint to deposit and solidify on the products, which is then polymerized in the oven

Powder coating

The workpieces are coated with powder based on synthetic resins (e.g. epoxy powders), which adheres by electrostatic attraction. They then move to a furnace where heat first melts the paint powder and then polymerizes it, creating an adherent layer

At ZinCol, painting technology has also advanced in the field of painting.

Powder coating booths are increasingly automated and connected to the management system, enabling quick paint changes, automatic cleaning operations, and precise tracking of paint consumption per piece.

  • threads and areas not to be painted are protected by silicone caps or masks with tape;
  • we perform cross-hatch and resistance tests of the paint film against impact and corrosive environment;
  • with sandblasting, we chamfer the edges and mechanically clean piece, removing the residues from rolling and laser cutting;
  • with sealing, we complete the project by joining couplings and isolating them from the external environment.
